SomaYoga: An Integrative Approach to Yoga
August 25, 2018 - August 31, 2019
Surrounded by the beauty of nature at The Clearing, come and explore several therapeutic styles of yoga and meditation. Using the specialized props of critical alignment (a hatha-based therapeutic yoga approach), restorative yoga and clinical somatics (a movement practice based on careful observation from within), Theresa will guide students of all levels to practice in a mindful way that is appropriate for their body and functionality. Major emphasis will be placed on how to prevent injuries during practice.
Using the principles of Critical Alignment Yoga Therapy (C.A.T.) and the back strip, you will work with meditation, relaxation, movement and stability to begin to unlock areas of tension and explore a deeper and more peaceful way of being and moving. Clinical somatics is a movement-based therapy that asks us to observe from within areas of our body where we feel freedom of movement and areas where we feel restricted. Working from the center of the body, you will begin to release the muscles through a sequence of gentle somatic movements.
All supplies will be provided. Bring your body, your beginner’s mind and a willingness to explore through discussion, lecture, asana (yoga poses), meditation and breath work. This class is suitable for all levels. (If you have injuries or health issues that you think might prevent you from participating, please contact Theresa through The Clearing.)

People Are Talking...
I first want to take a moment to thank you again for the terrific class last week and especially for your passion for your work/calling – it really shows. To be honest, at first I wasn’t sure about the SomaYoga approach – it wasn’t what I expected – but, once I began to understand the ideas behind it I found it much more interesting. Now I am ready to really incorporate it into a part of a lifestyle of health and wellness – and NO PAIN!! - Neil Alcorn
My life improves each time I enter the tree lined drive at The Clearing. I add more amazing people to my circle of friends, and more teachers to be grateful for. Thank you so very much for everything you shared.
